Location

Bermuda is located in mid atlantic, 650 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina,

The total land area is 23 square miles with a population of approximately 60,000.

Form of Government

Bermuda was discovered in 1609 and is the oldest British overseas territory.

The Bermuda parliament is modeled on the Westminster system of government, and consists of an elected House of Assembly a nominated Senate. There are three main political parties and the Queen's representative and official head of state is the Governor. The Cabinet, presided over by the Prime Minister, is responsible for day to day governmental operations.

Climate

Bermuda is situated in the sub-tropical region with summer highs averaging 28°c (82°f) and winter highs averaging 18°c (65°f), with average annual rainfall of 53 inches.

Economy

Historically, Bermuda's economy has centred around tourism and international financial services.

Since the early 1960's Bermuda has developed into an international financial centre for international business companies, foreign sales corporations, offshore trusts, Societies with Restricted Liability, and exempt insurance companies.

Communication

Bermuda has excellent telephone, facsimile, internet and postal services. Courier services delivers mail to or from the United States and Canada the following day and covers all parts of the world with prompt delivery schedules.

The island is accessible by daily jet services from Atlanta, Boston, New York, London, and Toronto.
